Pools built across San Bernardino County.

We build pools across San Bernardino County — from Ontario out to Redlands.

Premium inground pool with dramatic San Gabriel Mountain backdrop at dusk, San Bernardino County

San Bernardino County is the largest county in the lower 48 by area, but most of our work happens in its western and southern Inland Empire corridor: the cities along the I-10 and I-15, from Upland and Rancho Cucamonga east through Fontana, Rialto, San Bernardino, and Redlands; south through Chino and Chino Hills; and into the foothill communities of Loma Linda, Highland, Yucaipa, and Grand Terrace. Every one of these cities has its own character, from master-planned neighborhoods to mature established tracts to hillside view lots with San Gabriel Mountain backdrops. CnC Pool Construction builds across all of them.

Geography & residential mix

San Bernardino County's western and southern portions sit on the flat Inland Empire valley floor and the San Gabriel / San Bernardino foothills that frame it. Rancho Cucamonga, Upland, Ontario, and Chino sit on the valley floor and alluvial fans stretching south from the San Gabriel Mountains. Fontana, Rialto, and San Bernardino occupy the central IE basin. Redlands climbs into the Crafton Hills. Loma Linda and Highland sit at the base of the San Bernardinos. Yucaipa and Grand Terrace get the most hillside character. The northern desert portion of the county (Victorville, Apple Valley, Barstow) is a different climate zone and isn't part of our regular service area.

Soil & engineering

We engineer every pool shell to the actual conditions of the lot, not to a county-wide template. Near the foothills (Rancho Cucamonga, Upland, Redlands, Loma Linda), conditions range from decomposed granite to sandy loam with cobble inclusions. Further into the valley (Fontana, Rialto, Ontario, Chino), expansive clay takes over. Chino Hills and Yucaipa foothills add slope and the need for retaining-wall work. A soil report gets pulled where the lot warrants one.

Permits & approvals

Each incorporated city runs its own Building & Safety Division with distinct plan-check timelines and inspection routines. San Bernardino County's Land Use Services handles unincorporated areas. HOA review is common in Rancho Cucamonga's planned communities and in Chino Hills' hillside developments. We prepare all engineered drawings, pull permits in our name, and coordinate inspections, excavation, steel, plumbing, deck, and final, so you're not fielding calls from inspectors.

Building climate

San Bernardino County summers run a little hotter than coastal-influenced Riverside County cities: Fontana, Rialto, and San Bernardino regularly push 100°F through July and August, with overnight cool-down depending on distance from the mountains. Winters are mild, with foothill cities (Redlands, Yucaipa, Loma Linda) occasionally seeing frost. We design pools for these patterns: efficient equipment, thoughtful shade integration, and finishes that hold up in full desert-adjacent sun.

Build timeline

How long does a pool take to build in San Bernardino County?

Most new pool builds in San Bernardino County run 12 to 16 weeks from the first dig to first swim. Pre-build design and permitting adds another 4 to 8 weeks on top, longer in HOA-heavy communities or on hillside lots that need grading review. Here's how a typical build flows:

  1. 01
    Pre-build

    Design & estimate

In-home consultation, measured site survey, 2D and 3D design rounds until it feels right, engineered plans drawn, itemized estimate, and contract signed when you're ready. Soil-specific structural concept and HOA-finish direction get worked into the design here, different lots across the county ask for different specs.

  2. 02
    Weeks 1–4

    Permits & site layout

Submittal to the correct authority. Each incorporated city's Building & Safety Division (Rancho Cucamonga, Fontana, Redlands, Chino Hills and the rest run distinct plan-check queues) or San Bernardino County Land Use Services for unincorporated parcels in the I-10/I-15 corridor. Engineered plans formatted for HOA submittal where required, common in Rancho Cucamonga planned communities and Chino Hills hillside developments. Once permits clear, the pool footprint is staked on your property so you can walk it before we dig.

  3. 03
    Week 5

    Excavation

Demo first if anything has to come out, then the dig. Access and tree protection planned in advance: critical on foothill lots in Redlands, Yucaipa, and Chino Hills where slope and cobble inclusions can change the dig. Spoils hauled away, the pool shape set in the earth.

  4. 04
    Weeks 6–7

    Plumbing & steel

Hydraulic lines roughed in, structural rebar tied to engineered spec for the actual soil condition, expansive clay on the valley floor, decomposed granite and sandy loam nearer the foothills. Main drain and skimmer set. City inspectors sign off on plumbing and steel before anything gets covered up.

  5. 05
    Week 8

    Shotcrete shell

Pneumatic concrete shot at high pressure and hand-troweled into the structural shell. The 28-day water cure starts that afternoon, monitored through Fontana–Rialto–San Bernardino summer heat, which runs hotter than coastal-influenced IE cities, and continues through the next phases.

  6. 06
    Weeks 9–11

    Coping & tile

Coping stone or concrete profile set on the bond beam to define the edge. Waterline tile installed below. The two details people notice every day, we slow down to get them right.

  7. 07
    Weeks 12–13

    Decking

Concrete deck poured and finished, broom, salt, exposed aggregate, or stamped per your design. Drainage and expansion joints cut to engineered plan, foothill lots often get retaining-wall tie-ins at this stage. Mastic sealed at the coping line.

  8. 08
    Weeks 14–15

    Plaster & first swim

Interior finish applied, water starts flowing the same day, daily startup chemistry through the 28-day cure. Final inspection, walkthrough on equipment and care, your first swim.
